Tired of red eyes, itchy skin, and that chemical smell that follows you home from your own pool? A growing number of Gold Coast and Brisbane homeowners are switching to freshwater pool systems - and once they do, they rarely look back.
"Why doesn't everyone have one of these!" - the number one piece of feedback Naked Pools hears from customers after making the switch.
Traditional chlorine and saltwater pools have been the default for decades, but they come with a long list of trade-offs - chemical odours, skin and eye irritation, corrosion of pool surrounds and fittings, and the ongoing cost and effort of chemical management. Freshwater systems like the Naked Pools NKD-R take a different approach entirely, using copper-silver ionisation and oxidation to keep your water clean without the downsides.
Here is why more pool owners are choosing freshwater over chlorine or salt.
The Naked NKD-R system uses a unique combination of copper-silver ionisation and oxidation - a technology that has been used in commercial and municipal water treatment for decades. Copper ions eliminate algae while silver ions target bacteria, all without the harsh side effects of chlorine. A small residual of sanitiser is still maintained as a backup, but at a fraction of the level found in a conventional pool.
It is chloramines in pool water - the by-products formed when chlorine reacts with sweat, sunscreen, and body oils - not chlorine itself, that produce that familiar chemical odour and cause eye and skin irritation. Freshwater systems dramatically reduce chloramine formation, which is why the difference in water feel is so immediate and noticeable.
Naked Pools offer two main systems to suit different pool sizes.
1 NKD-R Freshwater System: The flagship model, suited to pools between 30,000 and 150,000 litres. Ideal for family pools and larger residential pools on the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Backed by an industry-leading 5-year warranty and compatible with mineral salts for an extra layer of water softness.
2 NKD-M (Mini) Freshwater System: The same powerful ionisation and oxidation technology in a compact footprint, designed for spas, plunge pools, and courtyard pools up to 30,000 litres. Perfect for the growing number of Brisbane and Gold Coast homes with smaller urban pools or entertaining areas built around a plunge pool.
Both systems are available as bundles with the automatic NKD-pH Controller, which continuously monitors and adjusts your pool's pH - a particularly useful option for holiday homes or busy households where you cannot check the pool every day.
A freshwater pool is a pleasure to swim in. A freshwater pool at the perfect temperature, any time of year, is something else entirely.
The Naked freshwater system and the Neptune X-Pro Full Inverter Heat Pump are a natural combination. While the Naked system takes care of water quality - keeping it clean, clear, and gentle on your skin - the Neptune X-Pro ensures your pool is always at the perfect swimming temperature, whether that means warming it on a cool winter morning or cooling it down during a Queensland summer heatwave.
Fresh, soft, chemical-free water at the perfect temperature - 365 days a year. That is what this combination delivers.
Reliable Pool Care supplies and installs both the Naked Freshwater System and the Neptune X-Pro Heat Pump across the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Whether you are converting an existing chlorine or salt pool, or planning a new build, we can advise on the right setup for your pool size, budget, and lifestyle.
